It is not yet apparent that Grey County is considering substantive changes in the ways in which it delivers services, is committed to identifying and eliminating County / Municipality service and resource redundancies, or acknowledging the geographic challenges in developing more efficient regional infrastructure systems.
Those are issues that must be on the table as we all know that pressure on government budgets, at all levels, is unrelenting. To presume that the current County model, which has been in place for about 150 years, remains the optimal structure must be questioned.
We asked for specific follow up from the County Finance Committee, including most importantly a report that details how the County raises capital funds, the state of its capital reserves, and how capital spending is apportioned across Grey. We believe it is imperative to ensure that our Town's growth is sustainable, the capital generated by TBM is invested back into our community.
Our next step is to push to ensure that the requested data is provided.
