Key Issues Facing our Town

The Blue Mountain Ratepayers' Association (BMRA) held our Annual General Meeting last Saturday, October 21 at the Marsh Street Centre, Clarksburg.

About 80 residents, and most members of our Town Council attended to receive reports from  BMRA Board and Subcommittee members, and hear from Shawn Everett, TBM’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Adam Smith, Director of Planning, on a variety of issues facing the Town.

The BMRA presentations and respective presenters included:

  • Town of Blue Mountains Budget Issues - Jim Torrance

  • Infrastructure - Scott Findlay

  • Planning and Development - Brian Nelson

  • Short Term Accommodations (STA) - Terry Kellar

  • Craigleith Community Working Group - John Relihan and Stephen Granger

  • Regional Government and Associations - John White

Their presentations can be accessed through this link.

BMRA Business Matters

The AGM also dealt with the "business" of the Association. The 2022 budget summary was submitted and approved, as was the Slate of DIrectors for the next year. These documents can be accessed through this link.

The AGM Business

One of the points discussed regarding the BMRA Board and Subcommittees is the desire to appoint women to our Board, and the need to fill some currently vacant roles as well. A separate communication will be shared with members related to those issues in the near future.

This was the first in-person BMRA AGM held since prior to Covid, and the value of gathering as a group was obvious to all. The BMRA intends to schedule more live events in 2024, and the Board and Subcommittee members will be working through the course of 2023 to develop those programs.

THANK YOU

We would like to thank all the members who attended the AGM, and express our appreciation to the CAO and DIrector of Planning for their willingness to offer their time on a Saturday morning to engage with our members.

Regards,

BMRA
